Installation & Configuration

Follow these steps to get FM Sidekick running alongside your Football Manager saves.

Windows Installation

  1. Download: Grab the .exe installer from the Download Page.
  2. Browser Warning: If your browser says the download may be unsafe, open the warning menu, choose Keep or Keep anyway, and confirm the file came from the FM Sidekick GitHub release.
  3. Run Installer: Double-click the FM-Sidekick-Setup-X.X.X.exe file.
  4. SmartScreen Note: Because the app is currently unsigned, Windows might show a "Windows protected your PC" warning. Click "More info", confirm the app name is FM Sidekick, then click "Run anyway".
  5. Launch: The app will open automatically after installation and create a shortcut on your desktop.

First Launch & Config

1. Follow the Wizard

When you first open FM Sidekick, it will launch an Onboarding Wizard. This will walk you through setting up your AI companion in seconds.

2. Get your API Key

The wizard will ask for a Google Gemini API key. It's free and secure.

3. Game Mode

Ensure Football Manager is set to Windowed or Borderless Windowed mode so the assistant can sit over the pitch.
